Incidence of surgical site infection, bacterial isolate, and their antimicrobial susceptibility pattern among patients who underwent surgery at Dessie Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Northeast Ethiopia.

An average rate of surgical site infection was found to be reported and significant numbers of bacterial isolates were also detected. The highest rate of surgical site infection was reported in prostate surgery, followed by small bowel, vaginal hysterectomy, and exploratory laparotomy surgical procedures. Periodic surveillance on the incidence rate and bacterial profile along with the determination of their antibiotic susceptibility should be performed.
