Epidemiology and survival of childhood cancer in Turkey.

The increase in patients diagnosed at a localized/low-risk stage and the increase in survival of some types of cancer over years is promising. The national health care reform, enabling patients to easily access free health services, increased awareness, improvement in oncological treatment, and supportive care may have contributed to the progress achieved, and may be a model for other developing countries.
