Paediatric community-acquired bacteraemia, pneumococcal invasive disease and antibiotic resistance fell after the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine was introduced.

Introducing national pneumococcal conjugate vaccination significantly changed the epidemiology of CAB, with reduced antibiotic-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae and increased hospitalisation rates for Staphylococcus aureus infections.
