Morning insulin exposure primes the liver for increased hepatic glucose uptake and glycogen storage during a subsequent meal. This study addressed whether the pattern and/or duration of meal-associated insulin delivery in the morning influences insulin's ensuing priming effect. We found that in the morning, a smaller amount of insulin delivered over a longer duration is more effective than a larger amount over a shorter duration in improving liver glucose metabolism in the afternoon.
