Very preterm infants with US-detected perforated NEC without radiographic pneumoperitoneum had a lower risk of death before discharge than those with perforated NEC and radiographic pneumoperitoneum. Bowel USs may have a potential role in surgical decision-making in infants with advanced NEC.
