Within the limitations of a retrospective study of two patient cohorts, there was no significant difference between the results obtained with chromium-51 and technetium-99m tracers. In addition, with the use of DTPA-99m Tc, operating costs and patient exposure to ionizing radiation were reduced, and clinical activity was maintained for the patients' benefit. Radiopharmacists are able to react quickly to supply contingencies, reduce operating costs and maintain the quality of medical examinations.
