• Ultrafast Doppler ultrasound revealed rich vascularity irrespective of perfusion dynamic susceptibility contrast MRI state. • Rich and organised vascularisation was also observed even in low-grade glioma. • These findings challenge the assumptions for cerebral blood volume estimation with MRI.
