Outcomes after CAS are equivalent to CEA when performed by vascular surgeons, however significant variation exists for both choice of revascularization procedure and perioperative outcomes between states. Further investigation is needed to determine whether clinical care pathways should be revised to achieve consistency and quality of outcomes.
