In the hydrated title salt, (C 10 H 8 NO 2 ) 2 [SnCl 6 ]·2H 2 O, the tin(IV) atom is located about a center of inversion. In the crystal structure, the organic cation, the octa-hedral inorganic anion and the water mol-ecule of crystallization inter-act through O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, supplemented by weak π-π stacking between neighboring cations, and C-Cl⋯π inter-actions.
