: Despite increasing low and medium-acuity casework in this EMS system, paramedic referral to a GP is not common practice. Referring a patient to a GP did not reduce the likelihood of patients experiencing a high acuity outcome or recalling an ambulance within 48 hours, suggesting opportunity exists to refine paramedic to GP referral practices.
