The development of novel adsorption materials is of significance for the efficient and low-energy purification of acetylene (C 2 H 2 ). Emerging metal-organic framework (MOF) adsorbents demonstrate great application prospects in the field of gas adsorption and separation. Herein, we synthesized a Eu-MOF asymmetrically modified with cyclopentadienyl cobalt exhibiting two different types of cages, denoted as UPC-119. Adsorption isotherms and dynamic breakthrough curves confirm its potential in C 2 H 2 /CO 2 separation, which is further evidenced by theoretical simulations. The high adsorption capacity and low adsorption enthalpy render UPC-119 as a promising adsorbent for C 2 H 2 /CO 2 separation with ease of regeneration.
