Luminescence center modulation for the synthesis of a narrow-band green phosphor: mechanism and backlighting display application.

A highly efficient and stable green phosphor with a narrow emission-band in a hexagonal aluminate was synthesized based on the energy transfer between Eu 2+ and Mn 2+ luminescence centers. The related mechanism was elucidated from the viewpoints of the crystal structure and energy level, providing insights for designing novel phosphors with high performance.
