Transition metals with similar atomic radius were used for doping spinel NiCo 2 S 4 to adjust the octahedral configuration. Mn dopants adjusted the morphology and surface charge distribution, and optimized the electron transport and catalytic activity of the surface site. Mn-NiCo 2 S 4 showed an OER overpotential of 269 mV and water splitting voltage of 1.59 V.
