Here, we report wajeepeptin ( 1 ), a new cyclic depsipeptide isolated from a marine Moorena sp. cyanobacterium. The structure was elucidated by a combination of spectroscopic analyses, X-ray diffraction analysis, and degradation reactions. Wajeepeptin ( 1 ) showed moderate cytotoxicity (IC 50 = 3.7 μM against HeLa cells) and potent antitrypanosomal activity (IC 50 = 0.73 ± 0.14 μM against Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense ).
