Ultrasonography has high diagnostic accuracy for diagnosing ALCD, differentiating complicated from non-complicated disease and establishing alternative diagnoses related to left lower quadrant pain. A low threshold to get a CT should be maintained as not to miss cases that may mimic ALCD.
