Low BMI and SFA values were identified as risk factors for residual pneumoperitoneum. Inflammatory markers may be useful as indicators for avoiding emergent surgery when it is difficult to differentiate between asymptomatic residual pneumoperitoneum and free air related to anastomotic failure.
