The tissue motion of annular displacement was decreased in patients with constrictive pericarditis, which indicated early impairment of longitudinal function in constrictive pericarditis; adhesion and calcium in the pericardium might account for the reduction. The septal mitral annular longitudinal displacement provides a fast and effective method for the assessment of LV systolic function in patients with constrictive pericarditis and restrictive cardiomyopathy.
