The role of cytogenetic abnormalities in non-systemic light chain amyloidosis monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance diseases still needs to be clarified. Bhutani et al. present the results of a study investigating the underlying plasma cell cytogenetic abnormalities in monoclonal immunoglobulin deposition disease (MIDD). The results show that translocation (11;14) is a common abnormality in MIDD and affects the presentation and outcomes. Commentary on: Bhutani et al.
