Agarose was shown to be an appropriate sampling surface for IR-MALDESI mass spectrometry imaging of Arabidopsis seedlings. SIL-IAA doping of agarose was demonstrated as a viable technique for relative quantification of metabolites in live seedlings or tissues with similar biological considerations.
