No signs of "tripledemic" in Finnish children.

The dynamics of normal viral respiratory pathogens in children were changed for three consecutive seasons. Tripledemic of simultaneous Covid-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) has been feared as the restrictions were ended globally. The aim was to assess the current tripledemic in Finland. In Finland the epidemiology of respiratory virus season 2022-2023 seemed normal compared to previous years. Influenza season started in typical time in December and the peak was in normal level. RSV season came with high incidence for second year in a row, but the peak incidence was near normal level. Based on the findings of this brief study, there seemed not to be a surge with tripledemic in Finland. All countries have now had atypical epidemic seasons for at least two years, and thus a normal co-occurring season of influenza and RSV has gained much publicity, although the rates have not been near to previous record high rates.
