Findings recorded by hospital pediatricians in medical records during routine medical care showed that most (74%) of the pediatricians were aware of the infant's exposure to AED during pregnancy. Pediatricians did not do well in identifying the physical signs of midface or digit hypoplasia or microcephaly or growth restriction. Better early identification of the physical effects from AED exposure would make it possible for infants to benefit from developmental monitoring.
