Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis in Adults: A Retrospective Study in a Belgian Teaching Hospital.

In our study, the most frequent triggers were malignancy and infectious agent followed by rheumatologic disease. Risk factors for mortality were age, male sex, malignancy and DIC, but only age remained significant in multivariate analysis. Treatment guidelines are mainly based on pediatric patients, and it is important for physician to describe adult patients' outcome to better understand this disease and adapt treatment.
