In athletes, ST segment elevation is correlated with R and T wave amplitudes and negatively correlated with HR. In addition, ST segment elevation is correlated with low heart rate, consistent with its higher prevalence in athletes. ST segment depression is not influenced by HR but is negatively associated with R and T wave amplitudes.
