Changing faces of hepatocellular carcinoma: East vs West.

We read with interest the paper "The changing scenario of hepatocellular carcinoma in Italy: an update" published in an upcoming issue of Liver International.1 It is an interesting study that looked at the changing scenario of etiology, clinical presentation, management and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in Italy during the last 15 years (2004-2018). We have recently reviewed the changing clinical patterns of HCC in Taiwan (2004-2015),2 and found that we do share remarkable resemblance between the East and West. Some findings may deserve further in-depth discussion.
