Translation of the hip joint with position change is demonstrated by decreased femoral head extrusion index on supine X-ray. Patients with higher body mass index had more dysplastic hips, as measured by five of six radiographic outcomes of dysplasia, and experienced more translation with weight-bearing, reflected by increased femoral head lateralization.
