Clinical indications for hysteroscopic removal of uterine masses: Time, age at diagnosis, and mass size.

Large mass size, longer time after last menstrual period, and older age are risk factors for abnormal histologies of uterine masses resected via hysteroscopy. Clinicians should take particular care when contemplating hysteroscopic removal for women younger than 40 years, and those with masses of <1.5 cm in size in the proliferative phase of the endometrium to avoid an unnecessary surgery.
