SRD is associated with high waitlist death and decreased transplantation rate. Timely proper pre-PHT support with VAD could enhance kidney recovery. Simultaneous heart-kidney transplantation neutralized persistent SRD effect on survival and might be considered in high-risk patients such as those on dialysis, mechanical ventilation or ECMO support.
