Facial neuropathy occurred less commonly than historically reported, and it often acts as a forerunner to systemic sarcoidosis and more widespread neurologic disease. Recurrent attacks of neurosarcoidosis occur early at high frequency following facial palsy. Recovery of facial nerve function is typically excellent.
