Disparities in smoking prevalence and associations with mental health and substance use disorders in underserved communities across the United States.

The prevalence of smoking in underserved communities is nearly double the national prevalence. In addition, the study underscores important socioeconomic determinants of health in smoking cessation behavior and the marked disparities among individuals with mental health conditions and SUDs. Finally, the findings illuminate the unique need for tailored treatments supporting cancer prevention care to address challenges confronted by vulnerable populations.
