Retro rectal tumours, whether benign or malignant in nature, are a rare challenge for the colorectal surgeon. Often differential diagnosis is based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) (1). Sacral chordomas are a very seldom presentation of a retro rectal tumour. They affect only 8/1.000.000 people/year and treatment involves maximal surgical resection with en bloc tumour removal via sacrectomy or sacral amputation.
