3D-validation of a simple tool to measure tibiofemoral axial rotation in tibial plateau fractures.

• Traumatic fractures of the tibial plateau may contain rotation-induced soft tissue injuries. • A new tool to measure axial rotation between the femur and tibia was found to have moderate to excellent inter- and intra-rater reliability. • The tool may have potential in predicting soft tissue injury and assisting with the decision to receive MRI.
