Our results highlight the significant prevalence of PMQR genes in ESBL-producing E. coli isolates in this region. Also, the aac (6')-Ib-cr variant was the most frequent gene, particularly in ESBL positive isolates. A regular periodic monitoring program is needed to control and hinder the more spread of antibiotic resistance phenomenon and contributed genes among UTI-causing E. coli isolates.
