Preterm infants with postnatal CMV infections showed no alterations in neonatal aEEG signals or GMA scores, compared with the uninfected controls. Longer follow-up studies are needed to evaluate the effect of postnatal cytomegalovirus infections on later neurodevelopmental outcomes.
