Perioperative dexamethasone was associated with reduced LOS and decreased postoperative complications including PONV, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, acute kidney injury, and urinary tract infection after TJA. Although perioperative dexamethasone was not associated with notable reductions in postoperative opioid utilization, this study supports the use of dexamethasone to decrease LOS through multifactorial mechanisms beyond decreased pain.
