PWH are at risk for MDR-E infection due to HIV-specific factors, in addition to established risk factors. Early HIV diagnosis, linkage to care, and antiretroviral therapy to prevent immunosuppression, comorbidities, and coinfections protect against antimicrobial-resistant bacterial infections.
