I read with interest the recent article in Clinical and Experimental Dermatology by Premjeyanth and colleagues, discussing the role of faecal calprotectin in dermatology practice and its utility in investigating patients with a high index of suspicion for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Faecal calprotectin is a non-invasive test to help distinguish inflammatory from non-inflammatory bowel disorders as it has a high sensitivity and specificity for bowel inflammation.
