Spigelian hernia (SH) is said to be a rare condition, accounting for only less than 1 % of all hernias of the abdominal wall. [1-4] Because the hernia usually lies beneath an intact external oblique aponeurosis, generally there is no visible mass and it is difficult to appreciate by palpation. [2,5 ]Hence, it is not uncommon that patients with symptoms due to SH receive multiple diagnostic studies or unnecessary surgeries. [1,5 ].
