Trends in Alcohol-Induced Deaths in the United States by Sex, Age, and Ethnicity Suggest a Need for Targeted Health Interventions.

The study incorporated data from the entire US population for the period 2000 to 2016 by identifying the underlying cause of death that had been recorded on death certificates from the US National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A person was classified as having had an AID if the death certificate reported any one of fourteen alcohol-related diseases, defined in the International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision (ICD-10), as the underlying cause of death.
