The incidence of pelvic-origin varicosities was 2.5% (n = 156/6279). However, more than half of the patients with unusual varices had gonadal vein reflux and 24.4% of these patients also presented with pelvic pain. The evaluation of pelvic-origin varicosities should be performed in patients who present with unusual forms of varices of the lower extremity.
