The architecture of sporangia and zoospores of Actinoplanes missouriensis was analyzed at a high resolution using quick-freeze deep-etch replica electron microscopy. This analysis revealed that (i) sporangia were surrounded by at least two membranous layers with smooth surfaces, (ii) zoospores were enclosed by a fibrillar layer, and (iii) flagella were generated in a restricted area on the zoospore surface.
