Equilibrium dialysis, ultrafiltration, or size-exclusion separation coupled with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry provides a sensitive and specific method to measure FH concentrations. These direct methods are useful in iatrogenic or physiological states that alter hormone binding or metabolism.
