Especially when the surgery is performed by a high-volume endocrine surgeon, thyroidectomy may lead to significant improvements in HRQoL among patients, including the elderly and younger adults, with benign and malignant thyroid disorders. There was no difference in HRQoL between patients who underwent total thyroidectomy or thyroid lobectomy. Also, HRQol among thyroidectomy patients is associated with their educational and occupational statuses.
