We commend Hussain et al on their timely review of thalidomide in dermatology. 1 One dermatological indication for thalidomide not discussed in the paper is the treatment of necrobiotic xanthogranuloma (NXG), especially where associated with paraproteinaemia. NXG is a rare histiocytic proliferation, typically presenting as yellow-brown papules and plaques which may ulcerate. 2 Periorbital involvement is common and ophthalmological complications are frequently reported.
