Monoterpene alcohols induced by sweet potato weevil larvae deter conspecific adults from feeding and oviposition.

The present study demonstrated that volatile monoterpene alcohols induced by SPW larvae are chemical cues of larvae occupation for SPW adults to change their behavioral preference. Unveiling factors that mediate avoidance of intraspecific competition could help develop repellents or oviposition deterrents for SPW control. This article is protected by copyright.
