Nutritional interventions are needed in patients with schizophrenia given that insufficient antioxidant intake may increase oxidative stress, which in turn affects disease development. Therefore, healthy nutrition, especially sufficient intake of dietary antioxidants, should be encouraged in patients with schizophrenia.
