Rapid molecular testing for antimicrobial stewardship and solid organ transplantation.

Although there is a scarcity of studies involving SOT patients, current available data suggests that the use of RDTs helps improve patient outcomes and minimizes inappropriate antimicrobial use when coupled with proactive ASPs. Future studies should focus on clinical outcomes in SOT patients specifically, as well as how to optimize the use of RDTs in conjunction with traditional microbiology methods.
