Overall, during the fasting state, hepatic apoB lipoprotein metabolism is activated, characterized by increased production, transport, and clearance. After food intake, endogenous apoB lipoprotein metabolism is globally reduced as appropriate to balance dietary input to maintain the supply of energy to peripheral tissues.
