Some patients and doctors believe that caffeine causes migraine headaches. We studied 98 adults with migraine who reported how much caffeine they typically drink and tracked their headaches every day for six weeks, and we found that the number of caffeine drinks people drink daily was not linked to headache frequency, duration, or pain level. These results suggest that patients with episodic migraine do not have to avoid drinks with caffeine.
