The incidence of POE after macular surgery was 0.25% overall in France between 2006 and 2016 and twice higher for epiretinal membrane surgery than for macular hole surgery. For epiretinal surgery only, the incidence of POE was higher in 2010-2011 (period of the switch to transconjunctival vitrectomy) than in the rest of the study period.
