Prolonged survival with hydranencephaly is not unusual in the modern treatment era. CSF shunt problems, such as recurring shunt malfunction and shunt infection, represent one of the major problems, and avoiding CSF shunt with CPC is particularly desirable in patients with hydranencephaly.
